You realize that we are the government, right? Ours is a representative government, that means that it is our responsibility to elect representatives competent in running a government. A failure of government is a reflection of our incompetence, not theirs.

Where Am I, And How Did I Get In This Handbasket?>
There are Americans intentionally turning a blind eye to factual information, in order to maintain an illusion presented to them by corporate propaganda, and sustained by the media those corporations own. This has created a block of voters that will not be swayed by logic or proof. The only way they can be overcome is to muster more voters at the polls than they can provide.
How Did You Get Here?
“If Trump wins I’ll leave the country”
All joking aside, what would it take for you? Take a moment and consider just how much of what, would it take to really make you pick up and bail out on this country.
It would take a lot wouldn’t it. A great deal more than Trump sitting in the white house I’ll bet.
Project what you’ve just been thinking onto the refugees trying to get into this country. They aren’t thinking about taking jobs, they aren’t after a bunch of free stuff. They are so
tired,
afraid,
unhappy,
broken,
fed up, and done with whatever straw was the last one, that they grabbed what they could carry and turned their back on the country that had been their ancestral home. In some cases even to the extent that they offered their life, for the chance to be free of what lay behind them. Sound familiar? There is a story just like that in the family history of practically every. single. American. You have so much more in common with these people than you have differences.
Make for them a home, in the country where a home was made for your family. Try not to be afraid of the refugees, I assure you they are afraid enough for all of us. We must do what we have aways done. Assimilate these refugees into our culture. From them and their culture we will learn new things and adopt from them those elements that we find worthwhile. From us they will gradually learn to become a part of this great melting pot, this amalgamation of people. It’s time, and past time that we remembered how we became Americans.
USPS
Interesting thing about the USPS, turns out it was set up as a service and not a business. When the founders set it up they had some goals in mind that no for profit business could dare follow. It was our government’s intention that the fellow living a hundred miles from his nearest neighbor have the same quality service as the family living in a high rise in the most populated city, and that it would provide that service without making a profit on the American people it provides that service for. If certain bought representatives for for profit delivery businesses have conspired to sabotage our postal service to cause it to look like it is more costly to us than it is, well, that’s because those businesses have their eye on the profit potential in those families living in that high rise. Bet your last dollar that if we the people allow those bought representatives to privatize our postal service, our friend out there by himself, and all of our friends living in low population areas will find themselves paying a lot more money for a lot less service than they are provided now. Remove the sabotage from our postal service and let them get back to providing the service they were put in place to do. Tell those for profit businesses that if they have enough money to buy our politicians they need to pay more in taxes to help subsidize the services we as Americans rely on. Not the other way around.
Addiction
Some of our representatives in government are addicted to money and power. We cannot force them to seek help for their addiction, but, we can remove them from the the life and temptation that corrupted them. For their sake, vote them out.
Gun Control
We have spent countless hours trying to teach guns not to shoot people. We have lobbied legislators to help put an end to senseless murder by implementing gun education classes. If we can reach these guns soon enough we believe they can be taught not to kill. A few states have implemented voluntary gun registration. We believe that should be expanded by making it mandatory for these guns to register themselves. We need to explore new and innovative ways to get our message to these guns, “No More Shooting People!” We are “The People Who Have An Irrational Fear Of Guns” and we say that the only way to stop this epidemic of guns shooting people is to address the gun itself. Through legislation and education we can get these guns off the street and under our control.
Gun control isn’t really about saving lives.
Consider that it’s already illegal to shoot someone with any gun. Once you have that law on the book, you have exhausted the legal remedies for using the law to keep people from shooting each other, and to be honest, it works pretty well. Statistically, most of the readers here understand that there is a law against them taking a gun and killing someone else with it. For most of you, between your lack of a willingness to do that sort of thing anyway, and that law, it’s enough.
Now we all know that there are just some people that are inclined towards killing people. We know that given the right amounts of things like anger, fear, or self will inhibiting drugs, bad things can even happen to good people. Would it be wrong to refer to this last group as insane? Temporarily or otherwise, people in this group are capable of abhorrent behavior.
If these things are true, how can gun controllers think that making new laws that make killing people with a gun more illegal, or making it harder for folk like you and me to acquire or own a gun, a path for saving us from being shot? Of course, it’s not. Disarming the average American is a goal in and of itself. Given the 2nd Amendment, and people’s ability to think for themselves, getting rid of those guns is a hard sell.
That makes it divide and conquer time. In the finest tradition of our government, we find ourselves being boxed in between emotional appeals (Do it for the children) and that other time worn approach where they take a little today and a little tomorrow until you have none left at all. (how’d this slope get so slippery)
By intentionally misinterpreting a mental health issue as a gun control issue they avoid a confrontation with the average, common sense wielding American. Instead we find ourselves in an emotionally charged distraction with each other, while little by little our freedom, and even our Constitution is eroded away from beneath us.
At what point do -you- get involved? Ignorance is not bliss, it’s expensive.
Political Focus
The political parties have become so focused on helping themselves they have intentionally side tracked their true purpose as our representatives.
As long as they believe you will keep voting for the lesser evil, instead of voting in your own best interest, they won’t care what your needs are. Money and power, for them, will remain at the top of their priorities.
Listen To Your Heart
How do you teach people to listen to their heart instead of the talking points of the ultra rich? If your government is giving your tax money to corporations as incentives that were never defined, while your schools are going underfunded. What does your heart tell you about your government that your head is ignoring?
Government Should Be Another Thing That Is Not For Sale
Every direction the American people turn we’re faced with the price gouging reality of another monopoly. Pricing sometimes thousands of times more than anywhere else on the planet. The one thing all these price gougers have in common is more control over our government than we the voters have. The tool the founders of this country gave us to combat that problem was the vote. It is up to each and every one of us to vote for the representative that will have our back. Pay attention to what the candidates have done, their words lie, their actions do not.
Compassion
You cannot teach compassion to people that have none. They perceive caring as weakness and use that perception to inflate their own sense of power.
Call them Scrooge, pray they are visited by angels and move on with your day.
