100 years ago we fought this same fight and won. We have been less than vigilant in our fight to thwart the avarice that will always be the enemy of our way of life. This time we don’t have to reinvent the wheel, we can look to and improve upon the efforts of the men and women that recognized and battled these enemies before.
“We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace–business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.” —FDR
